Whether you need insight into process development, patient health, or product quality, Advanced Instruments osmometers deliver unmatched quality, performance, and reliability.

Our easy-to-use instruments are thoughtfully optimized for biotech, clinical and food & beverage labs, and readily fit into any workflow and include a range of connectivity options.

We’ll help you determine the right model for your needs – no matter which model you choose, you’ll get the speed and precision of freezing point technology – the gold standard osmolality measurement method – from the osmometer manufacturer you can count on for all of your osmolality needs.

What is an Osmometer?

Osmometers are used to measure the osmolality of aqueous samples. The freezing point depression method is the most commonly used method in laboratories around the world. Because this technology is very precise and accurate, users find that it provides a rapid and reliable means of determining sample osmolality. Learn more about osmolality here.

What is Freezing Point Depression?

The freezing point of a liquid (a solvent) is depressed when another compound is added, meaning that a solution has a lower freezing point than a pure solvent. Evaluating the freezing point depression of a sample can accurately measure the presence of all osmotically active substances in the sample. Learn more here.

How Can Osmometers Help in The Bioprocessing Workflow?

Biopharmaceutical labs using routine osmolality testing can have confidence in their processes during the development and manufacturing of biologic drugs while also having better control over the titer, yield, quality, and purity of their product. Learn more about biotech applications of osmolality here.

Why Are Advanced Instruments Osmometers The Best Fit For The Biotech Industry?

Trusted and Reliable performance

Over 65 years of experience in developing and manufacturing freezing point depression technology across the biopharmaceutical market. The OsmoTECH portfolio of osmometers offers superior performance across a diverse range of samples, osmolalities, and applications.

Robust Data compliance & management

Data integrity is paramount to ensuring the validity of the data and its analyses. Advanced Instruments osmometers help allow customers to meet the strict data integrity requirements of 21 CFR part 11 and EU Annex 11.

Scalable and Easy to integrate

The bioprocessing workflow is complex and multifaceted, which leads to a varying set of requirements depending on the stage where a customer is located. Designed in close collaboration with customers, the OsmoTECH portfolio of osmometers perfectly meets their requirements and can be easily integrated into the workflow to get their lab ready to go.

Comprehensive & Expert Service offerings

We provide a range of services and service plans to meet the different needs of our customers. Our certified Field Service Engineers provide on-site professional support for the installation, validation, training and maintenance of your osmometers to avoid disruptions to your valuable work.

How Can Clinical Lab Professionals and Physicians Benefit From Our Osmometers?

Physicians can make more timely diagnoses and institute more appropriate patient care, which can translate to decreased health-care costs for medical institutions of any size, in any setting. Osmolality is a quick and effective test to help evaluate the body’s water balance or its ability to produce and concentrate urine, to investigate low sodium levels (hyponatremia), to detect the presence of toxins in the body, and to monitor osmotically active drug therapies such as mannitol, which is used to treat cerebral edema. This test is also ordered to help monitor the effectiveness of a treatment for a condition found to be adversely affecting a person’s osmolality.

Why Are Advanced Instruments Osmometers The Best Fit For Clinical Laboratories?

Trusted & reliable brand

Labs worldwide have relied on our osmometers, services and support for over 65 years. Of labs that participated in a recent CAP proficiency survey (C-A 2021), 97% used an Advanced Instruments osmometer.

Efficient & easy to use

Our osmometers require minimal recalibration (as infrequent as every 6 months) and the freezing point osmometers can be powered on 24/7.

Robust data storage

We save you time by minimizing paperwork. Our osmometers store 1,000 results, which can be printed, exported via USB, or sent to the LIS, and they maintain an audit trail of 10,000 events.

Value-added service offerings

We provide full-service customer care with service agreements, installation, training, and validation services provide your laboratory peace of mind and save you time.
