GloCyte® Automated Cell Counter for CSF at AACC
Consistent CSF Cell Counts. Timely Turnaround.
Norwood, MA, July 18, 2017 – Advanced Instruments, a leader in laboratory instrumentation, will exhibit its GloCyte Automated Cell Counter System at the 69th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo in San Diego, CA,
Please visit our booth (#4951) during exhibition hours and poster (Number A-303) titled All Automated Analyzers for CSF Testing are Not Created Equal on August 1, 2017 between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
Advanced Instruments received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July 2016 to market its GloCyte Automated Cell Counter System. GloCyte delivers highly accurate and precise counts of the total nucleated cells (TNCs) and red blood cells (RBCs) in cerebrospinal fluid samples using a novel combination of fluorescence and imaging technology, highly specific reagents, and a unique test cartridge that eliminates carryover. The system is linear down to 0 cells/µL and has a limit of detection of 1 cell/µL for both RBC and TNC, an unprecedented detection level for an automated cell counter.
“With GloCyte, our turnaround time is faster and more consistent,” said John Baker, Core Laboratory Science & Technology Manager at MultiCare Health System Laboratories Northwest in Tacoma, Washington. “GloCyte removes the need for techs to classify red versus white cells. As a result, general medical technologists, not just hematology specialists can run the analyzer. This is important as the number of med techs is declining.”
From Rouette Hunter, Hematology Laboratory Manager at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, “The highest cost of performing manual cell counts was the labor. Moving to a small benchtop CSF cell count analyzer has allowed us to consolidate two work stations— urinalysis and cell counts— to one microscopy bench. Now we have one tech stationed at the bench instead of two.”
Additional benefits of the GloCyte System include a small sample size of only 30 microliters per test, an automated cell detection system that minimizes manual errors, and a built in quality control system that ensures accurate and repeatable results.
