Spiral Biotech, Inc. (SBI), an Advanced Instruments Company, produces automated microbiology systems for research, food, dairy, and environmental sciences laboratories.

Spiral Biotech first commercialized the technique of Spiral Plating in 1976. Since that time, the company has focused on automating the pre-analytical and analytical steps involved with traditional microbial enumeration. Spiral Biotech's newest colony counting system is the Color QCount®, with ColorCount™ color recognition software. The instrument is designed to work with the new chromogenic agars becoming popular for high-productivity colony counting that involves multiple strains of bacteria.
